I've had plenty to say about The Roadhouse here at THE GLASS BOX. First, there was "Listen to the Sounds: Why The Roadhouse Matters Whether We Like it or Not"--an essay that strove, just two months into the series, to place The Roadhouse at the center of the Season 3 action while many were complaining about the "filler" of the "weekly band showcases". Then, in honor of the one year anniversary of the premiere, I published "THE GLASS BOX Incomplete Guide to The Roadhouse", an extensive accounting of the adventures in alienation and discontinuity in The Roadhouse that I argued captured the spiritual heart of the series as a whole. And of course there's THE ROADHOUSE virtual jukebox page so that readers of THE GLASS BOX are never far from their favorite mood music from the soundtrack of our lives.
Now, just days before the 4th anniversary of the S3 finale, the visuals are finally catching up to the words. I created this set of photo collages for a presentation I gave this past June at "It Is In Our House Now: The Return First Online Conference", a talk entitled "The Roadhouse and Mindful Alienation: On Fearlessly Losing Hope in Twin Peaks' House Away from Home". You can check out the talk here if you like, but a picture is worth a thousand words, so why not just skip the lecture and let the above collages do the talking?
